Second New Church Planted in Alberta

A funny thing happened on the way to the missions conference…we planted another Hispanic church!

In April Geoff Hartt (Executive Director) and Antonio Lopez (Field Coordinator in Alberta, Canada) attended a missions conference in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. On the drive over they stopped in Brooks to explore the Hispanic community there. Within an hour of finding the Latino market on the main street Antonio had made several new contacts. A few weeks later Antonio began a Thursday evening meeting in Brooks and had 15 people showed up. The next week they met again and showed the movie Courageous. Antonio now had 35-40 contacts in Brooks.

Last Sunday they began a Saturday service at Lakewood Community Church (Pastor Darryl Fox) in Brooks with a meal provided by South Calgary Community Church’s Hispanic Ministry and had 4 people give their lives to Christ! This is now the second Hispanic church we’ve started in Alberta and we have two more planned for Medicine Hat and Red Cliff.
