Partnership in Missions

In early July several of our Field Coordinators were involved in a workshop presentation focusing on partnerships in missions. Eduardo Buldain (Arg.), Tony Campos (USA/Mex.) and Geoff Hartt (Executive Director) participated in a panel discussion at the North American Baptist Triennial Conference in Sacramento. The topic was mission efforts based more on peer relationships between North American churches and in our case, Latin American churches rather than the patriarchal model of the past century.

Our Field Coordinators have a wealth of experience with this as many of them have been working together with North American churches for years in truly peer to peer settings. This is not an easy thing to do as there are many opportunities for mis-understandings due to our cultural differences. Some of the success factors learned over the years in our organization are:

* Have a clear and mutually designed vision
* Take the time to develop a strong personal relationship between key leaders
* Do the hard work to maintain regular communication and maintain an attitude of humility

When we bring each of our strengths to the relationship our missions efforts can be much stronger. If you would like to learn more about intentionally forming a partnership with a church planting ministry in Latin America please email or call.
