This year holds some exciting possibilities for HFC. We are presenting our first Pastor’s Retreat in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico in May. This will give us a chance to help unite pastors in the region from Mexicali to Tijuana down to Ensenada. We can encourage them in their ministry, challenge them to multiply and equip them to make committed disciples. Paco Damian (Field Coordinator- Central Mexico) is organizing this with local Pastor Gonzalo Gonzales. Eduardo Buldain (Field Coordinator- Buenos Aires, Arg.) and Mark Robinson (New Life in Christ author) will be key speakers. We are also evaluating where new evangelical churches are needed in this region and have begun home groups to lead to this.In March Ricardo Ayala (Field Coordinator-Chicago, IL) and Geoff Hartt (Executive Director) will be holding a discipleship training in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. We hope this is the beginning of a long term effort there teaching pastors to focus more on making disciples rather than just gathering a group and calling it a church. This is in response to a group of pastors there identifying this weakness and inviting us to help strengthen their ministries.
One other new field we are considering is Florida. Geoff Hartt recently met with several Hispanic leaders in the Ft. Lauderdale/Maimi area and we are discussing how HFC might help support pastors there, especially in the areas of marriages and discipleship. We are considering a marriage seminar next year or some smaller discipleship training events.
